4.There are different types of networks over the globe.Networking has been developed on all levelsm from local to international, in different sectors of society.Depending on the area covered by network systems there are three basic types of networks.They are:- LAN, MAN and WAN.

5.A LAN(local area network) is a network that is confined to a relatively small area.It is generally limited to a geographic area such as a room, school, or building.Rarely LAN computers are more than a mile apart.

6.A MAN(metropolitan area network) is limited to only on metro-politan area.It is basically a bigger version of a LAN and normally uses similar technology.It can support both data and voice, and might even be related to the local cable television network.

7.A protocol is a formal set of rules and conventions that governs how computers exchange information over a computer network.Protocol contain the details of message formats, describes how a computer responds when a message arrives and specifies.
